Just Had The X6 Detailed

Cost was £400. That was with a 25% discount as one of the xmas offers. It was originally £350 with a 3 year ceramic protection but I opted for the 5 year protection which should have been another £100 but he did it for £50. He had the car for 4 days.

I see your profile says Sunderland, are you ...

Just Had The X6 Detailed

Had my X6 for just over 8 years now, bought it when I got rid of my C63 AMG Mercedes. 11 years old registered in 2013 with 110k on the clock now. Mechanically sound and just sailed through it's MOT with no advisories. Anyway the paintwork and wheels were starting to look a little tired so had what ...

I live about half a mile from the coast, can see the sea out my window. I saw the old one that was removed, the culprit, it was like powder in the middle and in 2 halves. Indy said when he touched it it just crumbled.

Apparently it's a common fault according to RAC man. They tend to corrode.
My battery was showing just over 11v before we put the jumper lead across.
I'm retired now so the vehicle tends to sit on the drive a lot nowadays.

All sorted. Faulty engine earth strap. Now at my Indy getting replaced.
To test put a jump lead between the engine and the negative jumper terminal on the chassis.
RAC did this and the X6 started straight away.
I was getting a bit worried as the last thing I needed is a big repair bill before xmas ...

Out in the X6 tonight for physio. Started at home and drove to physio without any problems. 2012 BMW E71 X6 3.0D Xdrive
Came out from physio and went to start the X6 and nothing.
Doesn't even attempt to turn over. I can hear a clicking, like a relay operating, coming from behind the area of the ...

Airbag Problem

Update: Fitted the replacement module but still had the same codes showing. Put the old module back in and had an auto electrician look at it. He found the problem in about 15 mins. It was a loose connector that looked as if it was going to the centre speaker in the top middle of the dash ...

Airbag Problem

Thanks for the help. I had read that second hand with the same part number was pot luck. Some have said they worked without coding and others have said they had to get it coded. I have the latest versions of inpa+/d & p but would need to research how to do it. I have only ever used it for bleeding ...

Airbag Problem

Thanks for the reply X5Sport. I think the emulator is supposed to do the same thing as the resistor. I did ask the question if the module was error code and fault free and was told it was but i guess you can't believe everything from ebay. It was only £19 so worth a try before it goes to the indy.
I ...

Re: Crank Shaft Pulley Wheel

Got the car back yesterday at 3pm all sorted. £495 total cost. :( . The pulley was £275 and the belt £35. It probably shouldn't make a difference but it seems to run a lot smoother now.

Re: Crank Shaft Pulley Wheel

No Idea, I've had it 3 years and the only recall i've had was drive shaft related I think.
Just done a quick search and there are no outstanding recalls on the vehicle according to the Gov.uk website.

Crank Shaft Pulley Wheel

Driving home last night on a twisty country road when I heard a slight thud from the front of the vehicle. Power steering went off immediately so I had to wrestle the X6 to the side of the road and into a nearby lay-by. Turns out the pulley which is attached to the crank shaft had failed. Had the ...

Re: Advanced driving course

Done the police one. Class 1 Advanced driver and advanced police motorcycles. Retired now and work in engineering.
Two of the best courses I ever did. A lot of classroom work involved.
