This is an amazing option and I'm pleased that I held out for it. It took 2 months to find a car with all the options I wanted. I recommend this one heartily:

I have it on the audi
It is a bit of a gimmick
Funnily enough I don't use it on the motorway, just normal roads so I can text and email

What, no espresso machine?
I thought of it as a gimmick too, until I used it on the autobahn at 112mph. It's remarkably effective at slowing the car down well in time, and the bit about being able to adjust the following distance is brilliant. It's quite conservative, so it errors on the side of safety. I keep it set to the second-closest following distance unless I'm on the autobahn really going fast. It seems to be speed-sensitive too, so it allows more distance at greater speeds.
