Transmission sluggish selecting first at roundabouts/junctions

Post by steve1986 » Wed May 20, 2015 10:35 pm

Hi guys

If I pull up up at junction or roundabout and quickly need to pull away it takes the car a moment for the box/car to accelerate with speed (like its in the wrong gear and has to quickly change). This can feel quite hard sometimes if the revs build before it goes.... if I am stopped at junction for a moment  it is fine.

Is this normal ?

All other aspects of the gear change are excellent (puts my e32 740i to shame badly)

Many thanks

It probably has stayed in 2nd gear..
Usually only drops to 1st when you stop.

Try it in S mode and see what it does then.
That usually changes down quicker..

I get this in mine. If I need to move faster than normal it does nothing.  I can shout come on at the car three or four times before it lurches off down the road. Making it look like I've left it too late to pull out.
It does seem a bit better in sport.
Basically I try and plan a bit better now. It's quite hard to get used to coming from a modified turbo car that went like a rocket.

sounds like you have gearbox issues, mine was always there and full of power, unless mine was mapped before i got it

Cold gearbox is on a different map and tends not to use 1st.  Did it on mine but sorted by using 'S' mode on cold days.  Once warmed up it was fine.

The one in my current X does the same and as I have to get across the A1 only a minute or so from home I need to use 'S' there too.

I'll be honest the gearbox on mine feels smooth and quiet at every other stage of driving. It just that initial pull away. I think it may just be me getting used to it.

Only if X5-D-Sport Salisbury's alleged 'partner' is in the boot otherwise it's only 2.2T...  O:-)
