PDC question
Re: PDC question
I wouldn't mind so much but I'm 40 fahzools lighter and in a worse state than I was 2 weeks ago! At least I didn't have the constant buzz from the rear! Hopin that the old X5 electronics might somehow kick in and bring em back to life. My radio has a bit of a turn every now and again and doesn't work for 10 mins after start up and then just turns itself on. Maybe these little f***ers will do the same thing.

Re: PDC question
How about disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so and do a system reset that way? Don't forget to pray etc in the meantime ...

I've tried taking the fuse out but that's not helped. Will try taking the battery off tomorrow and see what happens. Failing that I'll have to remove the sensor that I've just fitted and start from scratch and see what the problem is. Just confusing me cos all sensors are ticking so all have power and work and yet in the car all you get is a flashing green light and a beep, which now only lasts about 5 seconds by the way, from the rear.
Hi All
Words cannot describe how happy I am to find this forum!
I was a member on X5 Drivers till it did a Lord Lucan last year. Thought you'd all disappeared, but nice to see some familiar names again...AW8, pvr etc. You know who you all are!

..............the missis is telling me otherwise and had me convinced that they came on automatically. I would come out with a witty puchline here, but I'd end up in the same lonely gentlemen's club as Andy Gray and Richard Keys, so I'll refrain.

You mean something like this?

I think you should do the right thing now pvr, and resign as the Site Administrator, before you get sacked.
Tomorrow a video might surface on Youtube of you asking another site Administator (AW8??) to tuck your ethernet connection down your trousers.
...........erm, I think I've got sick in my mouth sick:
Hi again Mikee - glad you found us here - another welcomed ex-membe from the old site
Sincere apologies for the delay in acknowledgment. I saw the thread title but not having had PDC woes thus far I didn't read the thread....doesnt say a lot for my admin vigilance either
..............that said his site is largely self monitoring & good folk tend to give us the heads up in rare event of issues. Thats my excuse anyway.
Back to PDC's - My thoughts for what they may be worth.......
1. It may be worth looking into whether replacement PDC sensors need to be coded to each car or not.
2. It may be worth seeing if the PDC control unit is functioning ok.
3. Not much good to those with problems but I am pretty sure they dont respond well to pressure washing etc.
4. It may sound obvious but much over the sensors can cause issues
Some of above may seem obvious albeit the points metioned are typed to cater for some others too.
Edit- Just spent 30 mins trawling the net & other boards to see if there is a need for coding as point 1 above & not found anything yet to confirm same req'd.
Hope folk get issues sorted

Re: PDC question
Hey AW8 good to hear from you again!
Glad to see you're still sticking to the one or two line responses!!
Now, the sensor that I replaced was not strictly speaking supposed to be for the X5, but was told that it would work, and as I said before it does make the ticking noise so one would presume it functioning like it's supposed to.
How do I check if the PDC control unit is working?

Re: PDC question
Hey Mikee, just be glad AW8 did not offer any advice. The last time Penny had a light bulb out he suggested a complete LCM replacement and reprogramming to the tune of about 5k

Re: PDC question

I really should try to consider best case scenarios when giving constructive input.
I will start here............Hopefully these PDC sensor issues can be easily sorted with a wipe over using a clean damp cloth

Not bad for starters..................Fingers crossed

Re: PDC question
Well removing the battery for 10 mins hasn't helped, or giving them a wipe. I think I'm gonna give up soon and forget about em.

Just let your wife drive the car for a bit, they tend to ignore the PDCs so will give you a good reason to replace them ...

PVR that's so sexist you bad boy! And don't you pick on AW8 with my bulb issue or I'll phone your wife and get her to come out shopping with me. That will wipe the smile off you're face.
Hope you get it sorted Mikee and sorry I can't help

Re: PDC question

I may be wrong but I suspect pvr would be far more fearful of having to actually take part in a shopping trip.....Shopping areas might even have been prior deleted from his satnav

As for his smile......pvr is of course happiness abound, albeit I am yet to see it displayed with a conventional grin...........Not that I can crticise at all ........what with my poker face

I suspect our mutual tendancy to be dry in humour is what helps us just about tolerate each other..............Not that pvr would ever acknowledge this of course

.........Awaiting one of 3 responses from pvr.......
Option 1. Suitable, yet slightly predictable, dry response querying aforementioned mutual tolerance.
Option 2. Some witty attempt at abuse.
Option 3.

Re: PDC question

Problem solved. Well, by solved I mean I played a game of Automotive musical chairs and swapped a load of sensors around and somehow, as if by magic, my PDC works again!
Wish I could offer more advice as to how I got it to work again but truth be told, I just aint got a f****in clue. More luck than judgement.

Re: PDC question
Great stuff. There are only two interchangeable though? Corners and centres as you can not move a centre one to a corner or am I wrong here?
