It seems like my DSP has packed up. Sat nav works fine as does the radio (obviously no sound) just the wavey lines of the music. Used ones seem quite pricey bearing in mind they are of similar age. Checked I have voltage going to the amp and the white trigger wire has voltage when the radio is switched on. No water in the hole but I’ll pull it out over the weekend and look inside, unless there’s something very obvious wrong then I’ll have to decide on a course of action. No upgrade or anything like that as it would be wasted on me as my hearing leaves a lot to be desired. If someone has or know who can repair then I can compare prices.

Cartronics is a name that’s been on here in the past. They’re still about.

Need to send HRH’s Mark 4 nav head to them for a new screen as it’s losing pixels badly now.

I contacted cartronics and would obviously need to send it to them and diagnostics is £150 and then they tell you what needs fixed. So I’ve sent it elsewhere. If it’s completely knackered and not fixable they will send it back if you want it for £13. ATM they have found faults and are awaiting parts.

Care to share? I’m not surprised at the diagnostics cost as these days nothing is free, but it sounds steeper than I would have expected. I did think that they could also upgrade BMW amps to allow Bluetooth media streaming on cars it wasn’t available tor back in the day.

I was going to share when I got the amp back and working in the car. I didn’t need the upgrade as I have an android unit fitted which has more stuff on it than I will ever use. If the guy does a good job he’ll be getting 2 e46 amps both with the same fault. ie work for 10 minutes then off comes back on 10 minutes later for 30 seconds. I presume an overheating issue. Seems a common e46 problem. I will though give the guy’s name and address if the amp works.
