Seat Rails
I'd like to gain additional leg room. Wondering
if I could extend the driver's seat rails to gain an extra 2 to 3 inches?

You probably can with fabricating something. BMW don’t offer such but it should be possible.
You will need to make it strong in order to stop the extended rail bending downward at ‘full-aft’. Probably best to fabricate a complete rail rather than try to weld to the existing ones.
Another choice may be to try and move the rails aft a bit. That will depend upon where the fixings go into the floor. If there’s no adjustment there then you’d be looking at new floor mounting points, and those will need to be crash proof or (absolute worst case) the whole seat could pull out of the floor.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.-

Very possible...!
Now I wonder if there are not existing longer rails on a different bigger model BMW that would fit?

I think this is an ambitious plan myself. Making new fixings into the floor could prove a challenge. Possibly seat rails from something like a seven series of the same era might be an option if they're longer.
