Just cam back from France yesterday  :)
X5 is below 1.85m and I usually drive with one side on the kerb to keep alloys and wing mirrors intact :D
We used the larger carriages on the way back and it was much better. The larger carriages are taller and more importantly wide
The only problem with that is that in bus carriages toilet is either in the front or in the last one, so if you are in the middle - it's quite a long walk and and you may end up queuing as by the time you get there you'll find all those bus passengers in front of you !

Or the train gets to the other side whilst you are still on the throne, holding all the other cars up! Best to hold it in for the 28 mins or whatever it is! :0)
