With such a high frequency of changes its useful to pause for breath & look at the chronology.

That said don't expect a lucrative income from after dinner speaking, (at least on this subject)  ;)

I would probably have bought the X3 if the 30d was available at the price I paid for the X5. My wife preferred the smaller dimensions and single tailgate. The engine is more powerful than the X5 and it's much quicker as well, however it would have cost over £40k to get one. I wasn't willing to compromise on the 2 litre engine to get an X3!

The interior of the X3 seems quite spacious, not far off the X5 however for rear passengers it seemed odd, the floor was so high compared to the seat base, my knees were up in the air when I was seated.

Just goes to show how different things appeal to different people, the tailgate being a prime example there.

Good range the X cars then.

Although the interior felt much smaller for us.

The X3 felt perky and quick off the line. But once rolling the X5 feels much meatier. The engine notes can't be compared either. I've had 3 different versions of the 3 litre straight six oil burner and love it's 'distant v8 rumble'.

Hmm I have one as a courtesy car as my X5 gets repaired and my overwhelming thought is would I pay £37k for this car??
