Combustion gas in the coolant? I assume the green is the contaminated and blue is what it should be if no CO2 present?

200k is fairly decent for that engine or indeed most engines , few get much further these days :driving: It sounded very rough in your little video so I didn't think it would end well. :(

You know I got a snicking suspension the engine was patched up when I bought it.
I've had that car maybe 8 years!
It had 199k on the clock. Cost me about 900 bucks.

Just as a chaser oil 10w30 Walmart brand.
Left the oil filter cap off.
Now I'm rewarded with cleaning up!

The horrible rough idel I'm experiencing all due to a dead unresponsive throttle body.
For this model year I must use oem!
I'm told that the ecu is highly sensitive and will accept vdo only!
Anyone here have this experience...Thanks!

I don't know about the petrol models but a cheap throttle body I bought for my x5 35d didn't work correctly , the car ran ok but wouldn't regen the dpf.I had to buy an oe pierburg in the end .

Does your engine have an egr? There’s a valve that prevents rough or surging idle that should move the egr idle control valve. If you disconnect it, does the idle smooth out? I think it forces the ecu to change to a default map and will throw a code (which clears when reconnected.

Could be an egr leak, bad MAF, bad ICV or air leaks. Ignition timing is ecu controlled.

I suspect you’re going to need a tool that can read the engine’s live parameters to see what’s upsetting the ecu. If you have an old laptop available, it is possible to get hold INPA/ISTA on auction sites. There are threads on here going back some years about setting it up - it needs old versions of Windows unless there’s a newer version available. Several folks have done it on here and may be able to help.
