Rocker Gasket Life Expectency

Hi Guys,

About 3-4 years ago I had my local BMW indie replace the Rocker Gasket seals as they were leaking.

I've just had a service by NON BMW indie and they've said the Rocker Gaskets are leaking. Am I wrong in thinking these should of lasted more than 3-4 years?

The garage said maybe they didn't use authentic parts etc.

its a 2001 4.4 with 113k ok the clock and gaskets were probably changed about 105k miles.

Just trying to work out if I have any comeback with the garage who did the job originally? long shot I'm guessing?

Thanks

James

3/4 years warranty., unfortunately you don't even get 4 years warranty on a new BMW. :o
Maybe it just needs the bolts nipping up. It's a common problem on the M62 engine. I had to do mine on the 8 series when I had one.
:(

Nip them up first.  iirc they have a specific torque setting, and the garage probably didn't bother.

Cheers guys,

I'll mention it to the garage. I was just thinking they haven't lasted very long was all and made me wonder about the workmanship of the previous garage etc
