Every now and then I get a CEL with the code 'P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire'. The car doesn't go into limp home mode and after resetting the CEL every thing is fine. Sometimes the light comes on, flashes a few times and then goes off.
I've been told that it could be something as simple as a duff spark plug. Any opinions would be gratefully received.

Re: Intermittent misfire
Might be, I think I’d change all the spark plugs, check all the connections while you’re in there, and change the coil for that cylinder, put it back together and see what happens.

Re: Intermittent misfire
I'm guessing it's a petrol based engine - swap the coilpack in cylinder 2 with another cylinder and see if the problem then moves to that cylinder - if it does then it's the coilpack at fault, otherwise it's likely to be the spark plug. Can also be due to a faulty injector or low compression.

Many thanks. I'll check the coil when I get chance.
