Wow, that's going to be tyre shredding power. Did it mention torque figures?

I was going to post the same but you beat me to it! Apparently they'll start by putting the engine in the 5 series. I suspect it won't make it into the e70/71 due to the new model coming out next year. Should make for a very mean new X5 Md, especially with the anticipated weight savings ...

Nice. I'll only have this car for 2 years anyway and probably won't get another X6 afterwards.

Probably lob another Turbo on for good measure and upgrade the headlights from LED to laser so they can cope with the extra speeds.

Re: 50d power hike on the way
Is it also getting the ZF 9-speed auto? ZF do make a couple of versions now and have said that 9-speeds is about as far as it's sensible to go.....

Until the 10 speed comes via a split box

Re: 50d power hike on the way
Well thats taking the diesel X5 to the serious business end of torque and bhp for a stock car.
Once its in the new F15 X5 you will be looking at 0-60 in around 4.2 seconds FOR A 2 TON DIESEL 4x4
Will make my 30d look like an old granny in her mobility scooter.
I thought the 9sp ZF was only in development for FWD transmission, though could be wrong.

I'd read on US forum that they would be getting the x drive 5 series with 550dx lump but that Europe would not as it was too competitive against the M cars. Could be a change of heart - and US don't get the X6 50d for same reason.
I would actually find 4.2 secs 0-60 attractive in a big car.......

Re: 50d power hike on the way
I thought the 9 speed was FWD only too, but there was summat I read a couple of weeks back (that I now can't find) that intimated there was a 9-sp version of their other boxes coming.....though I could have misinterpreted it... :-[

It's not out yet and I'm already getting that feeling that I need one

I wish that the 50d X5 was available in the states. That would make my day..
