E70 to E71 Towbar interchangeable?

Lo guys,
my friend has an X6 2011 with factory tow bar and i have a 2008 SD M Sport without...
He doesn't want or need the tow bar but i do so we were wondering if they are interchangeable?
i appreciate the electrics might not be ( nice if they were...) but what about the strut and bar?
i know the M sport kit needs cutting but that would need to be done anyway.
any help would be good

Is it an OEM towbar?

Westfalia are the usual OEM so have a look at someone like PF Jones who supply said animals and check the part numbers, or look on REALOEM and do the same.....

It's the same basic chassis so it might well be identical - apart from the cutting.  Electrics needs more careful examination.

BTW You can get a brand new kit from PF Jones for a fraction of the Dealer cost.
