Expect uneven F/R tyre wear with 40d on 19s?

Post by RenoHuskerDu » Fri Jun 20, 2014 9:38 pm

I've seen complaints about rear tire wear with staggered 20" wheels (wider in the back). I wonder if it's the same issue with 19" wheels that are the same width front and rear?

How have your 40d tyres been wearing?

Thanks,

If anyone else is interested, I got a response on a German forum saying that all E70 LCIs wear the rears faster than the fronts. I read elsewhere that BMW changed the torque bias towards the rear with the LCI, which would explain that tire wear.  I'll post more if I hear it. The German forums are a rich lode of info, but they have (gasp) advertising most everywhere.

Rear tyre wear is because of the comedy negative camber. It is a trade off between wear and the excellent handling for something this size and weight.

Never had any issues with the front tyres, pressures are checked weekly and also tread depth and the inner of the rears is always the first to show signs of wear.
